Through The Valley of The Shadow of Death

An ordinary outing turned out to be a harrowing encounter with men of the underworld. Here’s a summary of what happened on that day and how my wife escaped from the criminals.

Till today, I still can’t comprehend where she summoned the courage to momentarily resist releasing the car key to those armed robbers.

She was dazed at being a participant in the almost film-like experience. That was how they snatched the car away from her. Just like that. This wasn’t scripted. It was real.

By this time, I, and another neighbour, a lady, has already appeared on the scene. The young lady’s compound abut ours on the same street.

The armed robbers had fired a warning shot into the air. They were for real. The spent shell landed on the roof of our house.

And I groaned, “O my God, what have they done to my wife, my angel?”

I finally summoned the courage to open the small gate through which we exit our compound into the street. Then, I heard the other lady. Our neighbour was on the street pleading with the robbers not to hurt my wife. Other neighbours eventually came out afterwards, but that lady was the first.

Thank God, they didn’t hurt her. Thanks be to God. I can even hear my wife’s voice now. We almost had to drag her away from the street and the armed robbers into the safety of our gated residence. No. She wasn’t foolish or heady. She was just shocked and dazed. Unbelievable. But true.

May be, it was the glory of heaven radiating from her that momentarily scared the wits out of their wicked hearts. The time was about 9.30pm. She was just arriving home from the prayers meeting. God Almighty paralyzed their hearts and hands from carrying out their evil intents. Otherwise, I would have become a living-dead by now.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Psalms 23:4 (KJV) Click To Tweet
