[clickandtweet handle=”” hashtag=”” related=”” layout=”” position=””]This succinct book typifies the aphorism that some things in this life have more to them than reaches the eye[/clickandtweet]. Clocking an average reading time of less than one hour, in The Power of Talent, the author, Praise George explains how anyone can develop and use his talent to attain financial independence.
Talent. Well, we all know what that means but how many of us have profited from our innate God given abilities? The author opines that there are two kinds of people on earth, those who are intelligently using and profiting from their talents and those who don’t. And I asked myself this question, “To which class do I belong?” Everyone will do well to ask himself that question as well. The honest answer provided in response to that question is the key to being financially secure when the future finally comes.
Taking readers through an understanding of what talent is, the author explains how one can discover and develop his passion through training and passionate hard-work. And while working hard at it, one must constantly seek ways to enhance and market his skills in profitable money earning ventures. Selling. There, you have it. [clickandtweet handle=”” hashtag=”” related=”” layout=”” position=””]It is the ability to package and market ones skills that make all the difference[/clickandtweet] between those who are struggling financially (in spite of their abilities and potentials) and those who succeed in life in spite of opposing odds.
The author talked about the “Curse of The Multi Talented”. In my own words, this chapter is best summarized as follows, [clickandtweet handle=”” hashtag=”” related=”” layout=”” position=””]if one is a Jack of all abilities but never discover or focus on the most promising talent, such a person will go through his whole life struggling financially in spite of his natural gifts and potentials.[/clickandtweet]
The author also talked about the importance of combining talent with integrity. [clickandtweet handle=”” hashtag=”” related=”” layout=”” position=””]No matter how talented one is, without integrity and good character one will eventually be brought down[/clickandtweet]. The business world is replete with seemingly unassailable leaders who were undone by their character-flaws. We all need to hear and heed the warning in the quest for the climb to the top and financial independence.
The last chapter of the book explains how one can further enhance and grow his talents with the help of mentors. In my own opinion, this chapter was not properly developed. It is my hope that this illustrious and beneficially prolific writer will shed more light on this aspect in one of his future books.
Altogether, this book packs a weighty punch in spite of its brevity. Putting to practise, the lessons taught will further help to bring financial liberation to all who put the lessons to use in these hard times.
The opinions expressed here (about the book) are entirely my own. Please get and read a copy of the book for a better understanding of the author’s point of view.
